What a stunning town Taupo is!
Craters of the moon is well worth a visit as you drive into Taupo, there is an $8 fee per adult to enter and $4 for children (it is run by a charity). It only takes 45 minutes to get around the Geothermal walk where you will see steaming vents and bubbling craters. There is an extra 15 minute walk up to the lookout if you would like to sit and take in the stunning views.
There is a Free camping area located in the ideal spot right next to Lake Taupo where you can look out the back of your camper and take in the views over the water.
Huka Falls is definitely one to visit. Crystal clear blue waters, an 11 meter high waterfall and the fact it is the most visited natural attraction in New Zealand.
Just a short drive from Huka falls is a another free camping spot, not a bad view to wake up to ay?
Use the ‘Book Me’ website to find cheap deals including a boat trip to the Maori Rock Carvings on Lake Taupo. You will see several pieces of Maori artwork all of which have a different story behind them. You also get free tea, coffee, hot choc and wifi whilst on the boat.
The top knot is known as the ‘Tiki Tiki’. I think all Tiki Tiki’s should be banned the end. ha
Annnnd the roadtrip continues
